Visual Effects
Our visual effects involves everything from the camera to the screen that helps images look great. It begins with raw conversion and often involves sharpening, denoising, sky extensions, stabilization and of course basic color grading. We specialize in difficult shots that need aspect ratio work to reach 1.43:1. We have two suites for this work and monitor in 4K. We also can do 2.5D conversions though we partner with industry-leading 3D conversion specialists for full 3D conversion.
Sound Design & Mixing
Sound is an incredible part of the giant screen experience. From the 6.0 sound of OMNIMAX® domes to the full 12.0 sound of IMAX® Laser, we create and mix rich soundtracks that put the audience in the picture. Deliverables on a typical giant screen film include stereo (2.0), 5.0, 5.1, 6.0 and 12.0 mixes as well as M&E versions of those for foreign language. We create all of those in our full mixing studio. We have our own foley artist, film score composer and experienced sound mixers to take your film from start to finish.
DI and Color Grading
Color grading and DI (“Digital Intermediate”) work is performed in our projector-based DI suite, one of the only such facilities on the east coast of the USA. Not only is the suite 4K, but our projection includes anamorphic lens support for 1.43:1 IMAX® aspect ratios so we can perform DI at the full resolution and aspect ratio of IMAX® theaters. To our knowledge, no other giant screen DI facility does this except IMAX® itself. What you see in our DI suite is exactly what you can expect to get on screen in a theater. We can create IMAX® compliant DCPs for QC, and create all the deliverables for IMAX, Evans & Sutherland, D3D, Sky-Skan, and all other giant screen theaters. We specialize in grading for dome theaters, which is an art in and of itself. Our DI suite is fully 3D capable and we have done finishing for all our films in 3D here as well. We can finish your giant screen film for less money and higher quality than other facilities because our costs are lower and this is what we specialize in. Learn More about D.I.
